Summary
Administrative: Applicants must be registered with the General Medical Council, and available to start work in February 2026. This post can include attachments to Critical Care in Royal Victoria Infirmary ward 38 Royal Victoria Infirmary ward 18 Freeman Hospital Critical Care Unit (ward 37) Note: this is a critical care-only post; there are NO placements in anaesthesia. Research: There are no specific research duties in this post, however there are opportunities to take part in ongoing clinical trials and associate principal investigator roles. Teaching: The department has a strong teaching commitment to junior doctors. There is both formal and informal training as well as educational supervision and guidance for the postholders provided in each attachment. Formal study-leave to attend relevant regional and national courses, (allocation the same as regional trainees) with reimbursement of expenses (according to Trust policy and up to the annual leave limit) also provided. A number of educational sessions are provided, there is also access to the departmental, Trust and regional teaching and courses, such as preparation for FRCA and FFICM examinations. Critical Care units run weekly formal teaching as well as journal clubs, exam practise, self-directed learning and practical procedure teaching. The opportunity exists for the post holder to attend educational sessions within other departments of the hospital.
