Summary

Are you passionate about inspiring the next generation of university students?

We are looking for 2 committed and creative members of staff to join our growing student recruitment team to work in our student recruitment and access team.

We're one of the UK’s largest modern Universities with a student cohort of over 30,000 learners. In meeting the University’s recruitment and access ambitions, the Student Recruitment and Access Team plays a pivotal part in delivering activity to achieve these objectives.

The team is responsible for securing our short- medium- and long-term supply chains across all markets, utilising a multi-channel approach to recruitment and conversion activity, working with teams across the whole of the University to achieve these ambitions, including marketing and communication teams, academic colleges and professional services teams.

The Student Recruitment and Access Team (SR&A)
The Student Recruitment and Access Team comprises of 3 specialisms – Outreach and Engagement, Operations, and Access.

The Outreach and Engagement Team is responsible for delivering exciting and inspiring engagement activity with targeted school and college students to deliver against the student recruitment plan. The team delivers activity both in schools and colleges and on campus. They also lead the co-ordination of Sheffield Hallam’s attendance and University conventions across the Country.

The Operations Team leads on the delivery of cross University student recruitment events such as Open Days and Clearing. They also are responsible for the first contact enquiry function and conversion activity.

The Access Team leads on Sheffield Hallam’s delivery against its Access and Participation Plan. This includes a programme of engagement activity that provides support for learners who may face additional barriers to Higher Education. Projects the team leads on includes Hallam Access, the Black British Pathway Programme and White Males from Deprived Backgrounds.

We are currently recruiting for 1 role based in the Outreach and Engagement Team and 1 role in the Operations Team, however you will be involved in projects and activities that work across the three specialisms.

About the Role – Outreach and Engagement (x1 post)
You will work with colleagues to plan, co-ordinate, support and deliver exciting and innovative outreach and engagement activity both on campus, or in schools and colleges across the region. You will contribute to helping to establish and nurture relationships with key institutions, promoting Sheffield Hallam University as a student destination, and ensuring timely and effective communication with key influences in the schools and colleges and across our social media platforms. You will also be required to attend and help to plan our attendance at conventions, speaking to prospective students, parents and carers whilst liaising with teachers and careers advisors.

This role is perfect for someone looking to make a meaningful impact on student recruitment within the higher education sector and promote the opportunities available at Sheffield Hallam University.

A typical week may involve co-ordinating or delivering on-campus outreach activity; attending a national convention; maintaining the team’s social media and online presence; supporting peers in the management of key internal stakeholder engagement (i.e. academic colleges); helping to develop activities targeted at students typically from Year 10 to Year 13, and co-ordinating e-communication. Any events you attend either on or off campus are invariably during the school day, however, there will be events in the evening, and some days will require an early start and a late finish or potentially an overnight stay. You will also have time working from home working on specific projects related to student recruitment activity

About the Role – Operations (x1 post)
As a Student Recruitment Operations Officer, you'll be responsible for the operational and functional co-ordination of strategically important student recruitment and conversion work within the Student Recruitment Operations Team. You would be responsible for ensuring delivering high impact, customer focused activities supporting the University in fulfilling its student recruitment ambitions across all markets.

This role is ideal for those who are passionate about empowering and supporting students to make informed decisions about Higher Education. You will apply specialist knowledge and expert advice to deliver large-scale, critical recruitment activities and multi-channel enquiries. You will collaborate and maintain relationships with key stakeholders to enhance service delivery.

We offer a diverse range of benefits and opportunities to pursue a rewarding and fulfilling career in a supportive environment.
