Start Date: April 2026
This is a new role for Inspiration Trust; we’re looking for someone who can take on the challenge of developing and implementing a Citizenship curriculum across our schools for the first time.
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Education Team at Inspiration Trust, which is a centrally contracted group of subject experts responsible for curriculum and teacher development across our 18 schools. We strongly believe our Subject Specialist Leaders should continue to be classroom practitioners, teaching the curriculum they are developing. Therefore, this role will also include a teaching commitment in one of our secondary academies of up to 3 days per week.
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing a new Citizenship curriculum, but also for the oversight of PSHE, RSHE and careers education across the Trust. Alongside the development of the curriculum and resources, responsibilities include the monitoring and assurance of provision, establishing a subject community of Citizenship teachers across the Trust and leading their CPD.
We're looking for someone who understands that high impact teaching is informed by effective curriculum design and a knowledge thorough pedagogy. We are seeking a leader who can not only deliver this in their own classroom, but who can lead on this across the Trust, leading, coaching and supporting other teachers.
Main purpose of the role
The main purpose of the role will be to lead Citizenship, PSHE, RSHE and Careers Education across Inspiration Trust, developing the curriculum and supporting its implementation.
The Specialist Leader will assist curriculum leaders in finding intellectual coherence across curricula, teaching and assessment, ensuring that sound curricular theorising and research drives review and improvement.
About You
You will be someone with a profound understanding of the subject matter, the ability to envision what the subject should look like in long term and a plan to get there. You will also be able to model exemplary classroom practice and share effective teaching methods with schools. You will assess the current development of the subject, identify areas for development, and use measurable data to demonstrate the subject's impact and progress.
Essential:
- An appropriate degree and other qualifications required for the award of QTS.
- Qualified Teacher Status (trainees should be on track to achieve QTS before taking up the post).
- Knowledge of the statutory requirements concerning Equal Opportunities, Health & Safety, SEND and Child Protection
- Excellent subject knowledge and expertise
- Secondary teaching experience
- Leadership experience
- Proven track record of achieving excellent outcomes
- Subject-specific current research and evidence-based practice in teaching
- Experience of curriculum development and design
Desirable:
- Experience of teaching on ITT programmes.
We offer:
- Generous annual leave, and access to the Teachers' Pension Schemes (TPS) with excellent employer contributions
- Health Plan and Employee Assistance Programme, including 24/7 virtual GP access, mental health support and claim-back options for healthcare costs *
- Cycle-to-work scheme, retail and theatre discounts (including discounted shopping vouchers, dentist and gym memberships), and salary sacrifice options (including home technology). *
- Free parking at most sites
- Personalised CPD and development programmes
- A structured and specific induction programme.
* Terms and conditions apply. Some benefits are only available following successfully passing probation.
