At Maidstone Borough Council we are looking for motivated individuals committed to delivering high standards to join our Street Cleansing Team, predominately working in Maidstone Town Centre.
The role of Street Scene Operative involves manually sweeping and cleaning streets and footpaths, picking up litter and emptying litter bins, and maintaining cleanliness standards in line with Defra requirements. You will need to be able to work on your own, outside in all weathers, and be used a physically active role.
For the role of Street Scene Operative (HGV Driver) you will also be using street cleansing vehicles up to HGV and equipment as directed by the Street Scene Supervisor.
These vacancies are for full-time positions working 37 hours per week on permanent contracts.
The Non-Driver position is working on a shift rota covering a five-day over seven working pattern, with a 12% shift enhancement. The HGV Driver position is working Monday to Friday (without the shift enhancement).
About You:
You will enjoy working outdoors in all weathers and be able to work on your own initiative, as well as working within a small operation team.
Additionally, you will have excellent communication skills and a commitment to delivering high service standards.
You will need to either hold an NVQ Level 2 in street cleansing or be prepared to study towards the qualification.
Some experience of street cleansing would be great, but full training and PPE will be provided.
Applicants for the Street Scene Operative (HGV Driver) position will also require a valid HGV licence, Class 1 or 2.
