Summary

Technician – Production Environment
Leyland / Preston Area
Reporting to: Engineer / Engineering Manager

NW Recruitment Services Ltd are working in partnership with a well-established manufacturing business based in the Leyland/Preston area. The company operates within a fast-paced production environment and is committed to maintaining high standards of efficiency, safety, hygiene, and quality.

Due to continued growth, two Technicians are required to support the smooth and efficient running of production line machinery. These are 12-week temporary to permanent opportunities with fixed shift patterns.

Rate of pay: £12.46 per hour
Contract: 12-week temporary to permanent

Shifts available (fixed):
• 06:00 – 14:00, Monday to Friday
• 14:00 – 22:00, Monday to Friday

Role purpose:

To support the efficient operation of production line machinery by assisting with line changeovers, maintaining performance during production, attending breakdowns, and contributing to continuous improvement activities.

Key responsibilities:

• Assist with production line set-ups and changeovers in line with hygiene, quality, and company procedures
• Support Engineers and Hygiene teams to ensure lines are ready for production runs
• Monitor line performance and drive efficiency using production performance boards
• Attend breakdowns and assist with fault finding and troubleshooting
• Carry out routine maintenance checks and basic calibration of tools and equipment
• Work collaboratively with production and engineering teams to meet output targets
• Maintain clean, safe, and tidy work areas following maintenance or changeovers
• Ensure all Health & Safety procedures are followed and records maintained
• Proactively identify opportunities to improve machine performance and line efficiency
• Record parts used and ensure stores and stock records are kept up to date

Skills & attributes:

• Keen to learn and develop within a technical or production environment
• Good working knowledge of hand tools
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Well organised with good time-management skills
• Able to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
