The Department for Transport is recruiting a Senior Modeller/Analyst to join the Modelling Insights team, leading work on the National Trip End Model (NTEM)—a core tool for forecasting UK travel demand. You will support and develop this business-critical model through an exciting redevelopment phase and produce high-quality analysis for policy and publication. Joining a friendly, expert analytical community, you’ll collaborate across government, strengthen the evidence base for transport decisions, and gain valuable professional development and project leadership opportunities.
The role requires managing long-term modelling work, prioritising in a fast-changing environment, and collaborating widely while bringing informed perspectives to diverse contexts.
Your responsibilities will include, but aren’t limited to:
- Undertake bespoke analysis to give insight into national travel patterns, adapting to specific policy and analytical requirements and providing a narrative for the results.
- Supporting the development and use of the Department’s strategic models including the National Trip End Model (NTEM).
- Working with external stakeholders to develop appropriate analysis for business case development and provide advice to decision makers on quality of submissions.
- Commissioning modelling and research from external consultants, project managing their work and assuring outputs.
- Delivering presentations/workshops at stakeholder engagement events to support the wider Transport sector.
