Your new role
Scheme Delivery Manager required to work on highways maintenance and improvement contract to help deliver high‑quality services for local residents, businesses, and road users.In this role, you'll be central to day‑to‑day delivery, overseeing sub‑contractors and operational teams across multiple workstreams. You'll ensure that construction activities are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with programme, budget, and environmental expectations.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Manage and maintain scheme programmes to ensure work is delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in line with required HSEQ standards.
  • Organise labour, materials, equipment, and subcontractor resources effectively.
  • Liaise with stakeholders such as network managers, local authorities, community groups, and designers to support scheme delivery.
  • Ensure Construction Phase Plans, method statements, and safe systems of work are in place before work begins, and that safety standards are upheld throughout.
  • Confirm that all site personnel-both in‑house and subcontracted-are competent and appropriately trained.
  • Work closely with commercial teams and take responsibility for the commercial performance of assigned projects.
  • Maintain accurate records, including site diaries, work activity logs, resource allocations, and as‑built information.
  • Support the Area Manager in developing construction programmes, phasing plans, and method statements.
  • Build strong relationships with key supply chain partners.
  • Contribute to Early Contractor Involvement, buildability reviews, and traffic management considerations.
  • Participate in Value Management and Value Engineering activities as required.
  • Ensure compliance with internal processes, procedures, reporting requirements, and quality, safety, and environmental standards.


What you'll need to succeed

  • Previous experience working in a similar scheme on highways
  • IOSH or SMSTS
  • CSCS
