Job introduction
We are looking for a Parks and Play Maintenance Technician to join our Parks team supporting the delivery of high-quality, safe and welcoming outdoor environments. This is a full-time role where you will be working across the city wherever required. Your new role
The Parks Service is responsible for the strategic management inspection and maintenance of a wide range of parks, gardens and open spaces that are appreciated by thousands of people every day. These range from high-profile formal parks to neighbourhood and pocket parks, sports pitches, ball courts, children's play areas, natural greenspaces, wildlife habitats, small informal grassed areas, trees and allotments.
In this vital role you will carry out a range of repair, maintenance and safety-related works to parks and open space infrastructure. The majority of this work will be on play equipment including undertaking general and repair works as directed, responding to urgent health and safety issues when required whilst accurately recording inspections, defects and completed works. You will be required to regularly travel across multiple sites both within and outside the City and work outdoors in all weather conditions whilst manging your workload safely and efficiently. You will ensure all works comply with relevant legislation whilst liaising with colleagues and assisting external contractors as required.
Who is the person summary:
You will have good communication skills, with a good understanding of mechanical fitting and safety principles, you will be able to identify faults and determine appropriate action. You will have a knowledge of BS EN and other safety standards and will be competent in the safe use of a wide range of hand and powered tools. With the ability to work in a safe, tidy and methodical manner you will be able to interpret written reports, plans and drawings. You will need to be physically fit to carry out the requirements of the post as well as hold a full and valid driving licence to enable you to undertake the duties of the role.

Please ensure that you read the job profile for full details on the post. Your contractual hours are 37 per week as per the needs of the Service. Working Monday to Thursday 7.30am - 4.00pm and Friday 7.30am - 3.30pm.
