We currently have an exciting opportunity for a passionate, dedicated and skilled Maths and English Learning Support Assistant, for a fixed term contract, term time only. The information below provides more detail about the role.

Duties: 

  • To assist students to take a full part in learning activities on equal terms with other students in lessons.
  • To support students with their identified provision in line with Education Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
  • To support the students in their physical needs, mobility and health and safety as appropriate. Training will be provided where appropriate.
  • To work with course lecturers to ensure the students are successfully included in to the college environment.
  • To become familiar with the use of specialist equipment for the benefit of the student. Training will be provided where appropriate.
  • To differentiate appropriate learning material to support individual student provision and requirements.
  • To regularly update individual learning plans in line with EHCP's and SEN needs.
  • To contribute to, and attend annual reviews as primary LSAs for the students within their cohort.
  • Attend English and Maths Department team meetings and relevant training.

Skills/experience: 

  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office packages and the willingness to learn college IT systems
  • Excellent administrative capabilities i.e. accurate record keeping
  • Knowledge and understanding of disability/sensory impairment is less important than a willingness to learn

Qualifications: 

  • Level 2 qualification in English and Maths (or equivalent)
  • Level 2 or 3 NVQ in Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent desirable.
