Job Description:
We are looking for an experienced Senior SAP Basis Consultant with hands-on experience in administering, managing, and optimizing SAP landscapes. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise across SAP Basis, SAP HANA, system installations, upgrades, migrations, performance tuning, and security, and will act as a technical anchor for our SAP environment.
You will work closely with functional teams, infrastructure teams, and business stakeholders to ensure high availability, scalability, performance, and security of all SAP systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Install, configure, and administer SAP systems (ECC/S4HANA, BW/BI, PO/PI, Solution Manager, etc.).
Manage SAP HANA and/or traditional databases (Oracle/SQL/DB2/MaxDB), including backup & recovery.
Perform client copies, system refreshes, transport management, and landscape synchronization.
Plan and execute SAP version upgrades, enhancement packs, support packs, kernel upgrades, and patches.
Handle SAP OS/DB migrations, SAP to S/4HANA migrations (if applicable), and system consolidations.
Collaborate with project managers and functional leads to define technical scope, effort, and timelines.
Monitor system performance (work processes, memory, CPU, I/O, DB, HANA, etc.) and proactively tune systems.
Experience in SAP S/4HANA system migration from on-premise to MS Azure Cloud for ECC landscapes.
Analyze and resolve issues related to ABAP/Java stacks, batch jobs, spool, update, and lock entries.
Implement and fine-tune monitoring via Solution Manager or other monitoring tools.
Manage SAP user administration, roles, and authorizations in alignment with security policies.
Support internal and external audits, ensure compliance with IT controls and standards (SOX, ISO, etc., if applicable).
Apply SAP security notes, patches, and stay ahead of vulnerabilities.
Design and maintain high-availability setups for SAP and HANA (System Replication, clustering, etc.).
Define and execute backup, restore, and disaster recovery procedures.
Participate in DR drills and document recovery runbooks.
Work with cloud environments (AWS/Azure/GCP/Private Cloud) for SAP deployment and operations.
Collaborate with infra/network teams on sizing, storage, OS hardening, and network/security configurations.
Optimize cost and performance in cloud-based SAP landscapes.
Create and maintain technical documentation, SOPs, and configuration runbooks.
Define and enforce Basis standards, naming conventions, and operational guidelines.
Mentor junior team members and provide technical guidance to the wider SAP team.
Work closely with functional, development, and business teams to support projects and critical issues.
Communicate risks, issues, and system changes clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Participate in on-call and out-of-hours support for critical activities (cutovers, go-lives, DR drills, etc.).
Skills, Knowledge & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or related field (or equivalent experience).
10+ years of SAP Basis experience in implementation, support, and upgrade projects.
Strong hands-on experience with SAP NetWeaver, ABAP and/or Java stacks, and core SAP components.
Solid experience in SAP HANA administration, performance tuning, backups, and HANA-specific tools.
Experience executing system copies, refreshes, transports, and managing multi-system landscapes (Dev/QA/Prod).
Proven experience with support packages, kernel upgrades, and SAP Notes implementation.
Strong knowledge of OS (Linux/UNIX/Windows) and Databases (HANA, Oracle, SQL, etc.) relevant to SAP.
Experience with Solution Manager (Monitoring, EWA, ChaRM, etc.) is highly desirable.
Good understanding of SAP security, roles/authorizations, and audit requirements.
Exposure to cloud-hosted SAP environments (Azure/AWS/GCP) is an added advantage.
Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues under time pressure.
SAP Basis / HANA certifications is a plus
ITIL Foundation certification is a plus.
