Summary
The Role:
The SEND 1:1 Support Practitioner is responsible for providing dedicated, individual support to a child with Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities (SEND). The role focuses on enabling the child to access learning opportunities, develop independence, and fully participate in nursery life in a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide consistent 1:1 support to a named child in line with their individual needs, targets, and care plans
Support the child’s learning, development, and emotional wellbeing through tailored activities and strategies
Implement and contribute to Individual Support Plans, EHCP targets (if applicable), and recommendations from external professionals
Work closely with the room team to adapt activities and routines to ensure inclusion and accessibility
Observe, record, and report on the child’s progress, sharing feedback with the SENCO, Room Leader, and parents/carers as appropriate
Support and use agreed strategies to promote independence where possible
Assist with personal care needs where required, following nursery policies and safeguarding procedures
Maintain a safe, stimulating, and inclusive environment at all times
Liaise with external agencies such as speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, or advisory teachers as directed
Uphold Snapdragons Nursery policies, including safeguarding, health and safety, confidentiality, and equality
