Location: East Lothian
Pay: £16.81 per hour | £22.40 per hour (overtime)
Shift Pattern: Monday–Friday or Tuesday–Saturday, both with early 05:00 starts
Contract: 12-week Temp-to-Perm
Driver Hire Edinburgh City is delighted to be recruiting a Class 2 Bin Lorry Driver to join a well-established and respected waste management operation serving East Lothian, with roles starting in January.
We’re seeking a reliable, safety-focused, and team-oriented individual. Whether you’re an experienced HGV driver or newly qualified and keen to build your skills, this role offers a stable and rewarding opportunity.

Key Responsibilities
Safely operate a Class 2 (Category C) bin lorry on planned collection routes
Work closely with loaders and colleagues to complete waste and recycling rounds
Carry out pre- and post-shift vehicle checks and report any defects
Complete all required paperwork and compliance documentation
Follow all health, safety, and road traffic regulations
Act as a professional representative of the company when interacting with the public
✅ What You’ll Need
Essential:
Full UK Class 2 (Category C) HGV licence
Valid Driver CPC and Digital Tachograph card
Desirable:
Previous bin lorry or waste management experience
Good knowledge of East Lothian routes
About You
Reliable, punctual, and physically capable
A strong team player with a proactive, positive attitude
Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions
Shift Details
Monday–Friday or Tuesday–Saturday rota
Early morning 05:00 starts
Full-time hours with regular overtime available
