Summary
An exciting opportunity to join our friendly and supportive team carrying out all basic stable duties whilst training for your Apprenticeship. You will also receive lessons from Sally herself and the opportunity to join in clinics. We guarantee that you will be trained and supported to fully prepare you for your career in the industry .
This is an exciting opportunity to gain excellent skills and knowledge that is required of the modern equine groom. It will provide the successful applicant with valuable experience and a strong foundation to prepare them ready for a career in the industry. Cheval Court Stud has 19 boxes and around 52 acres of grazing with a canter track and nearby gallops. The existing staff have worked for Sally for quite a few years so we are a bit like a family and everyone supports and helps each other.
A typical day involves:
We organise the day over a cup of coffee
Turn out
Muck out
Bring in
We then exercise the horses and groom
After lunch we finish the exercising
Tack clean
Turn out the night horses
Evening stables are done by 5 pm
Hay up
Apprentices are a key part of our fun and friendly team and will carry out all yard duties and be given opportunities to experience and develop a wide range of industry skills.
Desired skills
Applicants MUST have basic stable and riding skills from previous experience with horses. Details must be shown on application

Reliable, trustworthy and resilient.
Desired qualifications
GCSEs or equivalent in maths and English at grade C/4/Level 2 are desired but not essential
Applicants must not already hold a level 2 or higher in Horse Care
Future prospects
Future full employment as a fully trained groom for the right candidate.
Training
Full training to be provided by the employer and KEITS at the place of employment.
The applicant will be working towards a Level 2 Equine Groom Apprenticeship.
The learner will be allocated an industry specific training consultant who will provide both remote and onsite visits throughout the apprenticeship.
