Are you a practical problem-solver who enjoys working with your hands? We are looking for an enthusiastic DT Technician Apprentice to join our creative team, where you will gain valuable technical skills while helping to keep our workshops safe, organised, and inspiring for our students.
About the Role
This apprenticeship is the perfect opportunity to launch a career in technical support within education. You will work alongside experienced staff in our Design & Technology department, learning how to manage materials, maintain machinery, and support practical lessons. From preparing timber and electronics to ensuring food technology ingredients are ready, you will play a vital role in ensuring that lessons run smoothly and safely. You will develop a strong understanding of Health and Safety regulations and gain a recognised qualification in the process.
Responsibilities
Ensure a clean, orderly working environment that meets the academy's Health and Safety standards.
Be responsible for the timely and accurate preparation of specific equipment, resources, and materials to ensure the effective and efficient delivery of lessons.
Monitor and arrange the safe and secure storage of allocated equipment and materials to prevent unauthorised access or misuse.
Clean and undertake day-to-day maintenance of equipment as required to ensure quality and safety standards are maintained.
Perform duties in line with Health and Safety regulations, including the safe treatment and disposal of used materials (including hazardous substances), taking action where hazards are identified and reporting any serious hazards to the appropriate person.
Undertake basic record-keeping as directed.
A minimum of GCSE Grade C/4 in Maths and English is preferred but not essential, as this can be completed during the apprenticeship.
