At All Stars Out of School Club Leeds, we provide a safe, happy and relaxed environment where children aged 5-11 years can unwind, play and have fun outside the school day. Our club values children’s choices, creativity and friendships, and we believe play should be child-led, inclusive and enjoyable. We’re looking for an enthusiastic Playworker who brings energy, warmth and a positive attitude — someone who enjoys supporting children’s play and being part of a friendly, supportive team.

Your Core Purpose

As a Playworker, you’ll support the day-to-day running of the club by helping create a safe, welcoming and engaging environment for children. You’ll work alongside the team to supervise play, encourage positive behaviour, support children’s wellbeing and ensure safeguarding and health & safety requirements are met at all times. This is a hands-on role ideal for someone who enjoys working with children and understands the importance of play.

Key Responsibilities

Play & Child Experience
- Support and facilitate a range of fun, inclusive and age-appropriate play opportunities.
- Encourage child-led play, creativity, independence and choice.
- Help children build friendships, confidence and social skills.
- Support positive behaviour using clear, consistent and respectful approaches.
- Help children feel settled, safe and valued within the club.

Care & Supervision
- Supervise children at all times, ensuring their safety and wellbeing.
- Support daily routines, including arrivals, collections, snacks, mealtimes and transitions.
- Ensure children are collected safely by authorised adults.
Safeguarding, Health & Safety
- Safeguard and promote the welfare of all children.
- Follow safeguarding, child protection and health & safety procedures at all times.
- Carry out daily environment checks and support risk assessments.
- Report concerns, accidents or incidents promptly in line with club procedures
Teamwork & Professional Practice
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to create a positive team culture.
- Communicate professionally with parents and carers when appropriate.
- Attend team meetings, training and supervision sessions.
- Support setting routines, tidying, cleaning and preparation tasks.

Essential Qualifications & Experience
- A genuine interest in working with children aged 5-11 years
- A warm, patient and positive approach
- An understanding of the importance of play and children’s wellbeing
- Ability to follow policies, procedures and guidance
- Reliability, punctuality and strong teamwork skills
- Good spoken & written English
- Enhanced DBS Checklist with barred checklist and suitable to work with children.
- Full and Relevant 12 Hour Paediatric First Aid Training or willingness to complete before being counted in ratio.
- Food Safety Level 2 or willingness to complete before handling food
Please note: Playworkers may be unqualified or qualified. All staff must be suitably experienced and supervised in line with Ofsted requirements.

Desirable Skills &Qualifications
- Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Play work, Childcare or a related field
- Experience working in an out of school club, childcare or youth setting
- Level 2 English and Maths (GCSE or Functional Skills)
- Experience supporting children with SEND or behaviour needs

If applicant doesn’t have DBS we will run a check through the company system and deduct fee from first wage.
