Your Core Purpose

As a Level 3 Early Years Practitioner, you’ll play a vital role in delivering high-quality care and education in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). You’ll be a key person for a group of children, supporting their learning, development and wellbeing, while working collaboratively with colleagues and families to create the best possible outcomes. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys working directly with children and takes pride in providing outstanding early years practice.

Key Responsibilities

Care, Learning & Development

- Provide high-quality, nurturing care that meets each child’s individual needs.
- Support the planning and the All Stars curriculum in line with the EYFS statutory framework.
- Observe, assess and record children’s learning, using this information to plan meaningful next steps.
- Support children’s personal, social and emotional development, communication and language, physical development and early learning skills.
- Promote inclusive practice and support children with SEND or additional needs.

Key Person Responsibilities

- Act as a key person, building secure attachments and strong relationships with children and families.
- Communicate effectively with parents about their child’s progress, wellbeing and development.
- Support children through transitions within the setting and beyond.

Safeguarding, Health & Safety

- Safeguard and promote the welfare of all children at all times.
- Follow safeguarding, health & safety and welfare policies and procedures.
- Carry out daily checks and contribute to risk assessments.
- Respond appropriately to accidents, incidents and concerns, reporting in line with setting procedures.

Teamwork & Professional Practice

- Work collaboratively with colleagues to create a positive, reflective team culture.
- Support students, apprentices and new staff where appropriate.
- Engage in supervisions and ongoing professional development.
- Contribute ideas to improve practice, environments and outcomes for children.

Essential Qualifications & Experience

- Hold a DFE Full & Relevant qualification at Level 3 or above (or equivalent).
- Sound working knowledge of the EYFS statutory framework and child development
- Experience working within an early years setting
- Understanding of safeguarding, child protection, health &safety and welfare requirements
- Enhanced DBS Checklist with barred check list and suitable to work with children.
- Full and Relevant 12 Hour Paediatric First Aid Training or willingness to complete before being counted in ratio.
- A caring, patient and professional approach to working with children
- Good spoken & written English
- Food Safety Level 2 or willingness to complete before handling food

Desirable Skills & Experience

- Experience acting as a key person and communicating with families
- Additional training or interest in areas such as SEND, behaviour support, outdoor learning or wellbeing
- Level 2 English and Maths (GCSE or Functional Skills)
