Summary
The Dental Engineering Maintenance Specialist is responsible for delivering high-quality planned and reactive maintenance on a wide range of dental equipment. This includes carrying out routine servicing, safety checks, basic calibration tasks and first-line diagnostics under the supervision of the Specialist Dental Equipment Engineer. The post holder will help ensure equipment operates safely and reliably, identify faults or deterioration, and take timely action to support uninterrupted clinical activity. The role includes supporting maintenance arrangements for specific equipment types, maintaining accurate records, and assisting with performance verification, acceptance testing and commissioning activities. The post holder will work closely with dental clinical teams and external contractors to ensure timely escalation and resolution of issues, maintaining clear communication and strong working relationships. In addition, the post holder will contribute to equipment-related projects, audits, service improvement activity and the upkeep of workshop areas, tools and spare parts. The role may involve assisting with medical device alerts, documentation updates and routine asset verification. The post holder will follow Trust policies, regulatory standards, health and safety procedures and infection control requirements at all times. Flexibility is required to support a busy clinical environment, including occasional out-of-hours or weekend work. The role is essential in ensuring safe engineering practice, supporting patient care and maintaining high levels of equipment availability across Dental Services.
