Long Term Futures is seeking a compassionate, organised, and proactive KS2 Teaching Assistant to join a supportive primary school in Hackney. This role involves supporting pupils in Years 5 and 6, with a particular focus on SEND provision and dedicated support for SATs preparation. The successful candidate will play a key part in helping pupils feel confident, engaged, and ready to thrive academically and socially.
About the Role
You will work closely with class teachers, the SENCo, and Year 6 leads to provide tailored support that helps all pupils access the curriculum and prepare for key assessment points. Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting pupils with additional needs or SEND, including in-class support and small-group focus.
- Assisting pupils during targeted intervention sessions to boost confidence and attainment ahead of SATs.
- Working with individuals and small groups to reinforce learning in literacy, maths, and comprehension.
- Supporting classroom routines, transitions, and behaviour for learning.
- Helping pupils develop resilience, organisational skills, and self-esteem during this crucial phase of primary education.
- Collaborating with teaching staff to adapt resources and scaffold learning where needed.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Experience supporting children with SEND in a primary setting, ideally within KS2.
- A calm, encouraging, and positive approach to learning and behaviour.
- Confident working with older primary pupils and understanding the demands of SATs.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build trusting relationships with pupils and staff.
- Reliable, organised, and able to adapt to varied classroom needs throughout the day.
