Luma Education Recruitment is seeking dedicated and passionate Teaching Assistants to join a specialist SEN school in a stunning village setting in Kent on a temporary basis. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of early years and primary-aged neurodiverse children.
Role Overview
As a Teaching Assistant, you will be a key member of the school team, providing both classroom support and pastoral care. You will work closely with the SENCo, therapy team, and teaching staff, helping students access learning, develop strategies to succeed, and fully participate in school life.
Our Teaching Assistants also contribute to extracurricular activities and the wider school community, supporting a well-rounded education. Flexibility, a broad skill set, and a passion for supporting neurodiverse learners are essential.
Key Responsibilities
Provide 1:1 and small group support for early years and primary-aged pupils.
Develop an understanding of individual students’ needs and seek guidance from the SENCo, class teacher, and external agencies.
Support access to all learning experiences, providing or adapting resources such as worksheets, visual prompts, and games.
Maintain a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.
Deliver positive reinforcement, praise, and rewards to students.
Facilitate inclusion in small group activities and support peer interaction.
Attend relevant training sessions and meetings to stay up to date with developments in special educational needs.
