Role Overview
A welcoming and well-organised school in Lambeth is seeking an experienced Part-Time School Administrator to join their busy school office on a temporary basis. This is a key front-of-house position and plays an important role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the school.
The successful candidate will be the first point of contact for parents, visitors, and external professionals, and must be confident, professional, and approachable. The role requires prior experience working in a school administrative setting and a good working knowledge of school management systems, particularly SIMS.
This position is initially until 31 March, with the potential for the contract to be extended depending on school needs.
Key Responsibilities:
Front of House & Communication
Acting as the first point of contact for all visitors to the school
Managing the reception area and ensuring visitors follow safeguarding procedures
Answering incoming phone calls promptly and professionally
Handling parent and carer queries in person, via telephone, and email
Liaising with teaching staff, senior leaders, and external agencies as required
Administrative Duties:
Providing general administrative support to the school office
Maintaining accurate pupil records using SIMS (essential)
Using Arbor where required (desirable)
Updating attendance records and supporting day-to-day data tasks
Supporting admissions, correspondence, and filing where needed
Assisting with diary management and internal communications
Safeguarding & Compliance:
Ensuring safeguarding procedures are followed at all times
Managing visitor sign-in systems and maintaining secure records
Handling sensitive information confidentially and in line with GDPR
Essential Requirements:
Proven experience working in a school administration role
Strong working knowledge of SIMS
Excellent communication and customer service skills
Confident, calm, and professional manner
Ability to work independently and manage a busy front-of-house environment
Enhanced DBS check
Good organisational skills and attention to detail
Desirable Skills & Experience:
Experience using Arbor
Knowledge of school safeguarding procedures
Experience working in a fast-paced school office
Familiarity with attendance, admissions, or pupil data processes
