Summary

We are looking for great people to join our Asset Performance Teams across the West Midlands.

You will take an active role in managing our flood risk assets within a geographical area. Your enthusiasm and positive outlook will help you find solutions to ensure our assets are inspected, surveyed, maintained and operated safely and efficiently to reduce flood risk to people and property.

We manage our assets using our asset management information system, therefore the ability to accurately input and review data is a key requirement of this role.

We are a public facing team and interact with many stakeholders, including other risk management authorities, flood groups and local residents.

Travel to the office, local depots and flood defences across the area is required, therefore a full UK driving licence is essential.

Incident response forms a key part of what our teams do, you will be expected to undertake an incident response role and full training will be provided.

The team

Our team is responsible for thousands of flood risk assets ranging from large flood defence schemes and reservoirs through to small outfalls and flap valves.

We perform an essential role in ensuring that people and property are protected from flooding by taking the right investment decision at the right time, based upon robust data.

During a flood, we operate our assets to deliver the EA’s strategic, tactical and operational response in partnership with other responders.

Experience/skills required

We're seeking individuals with a passion for asset and/or flood risk management and a drive to better protect our communities at flood risk. The key things we’re looking for are transferable skills and capabilities. Ideally you’ll be able to demonstrate most or all of the following:

Confident communication and customer service skills, as you will be working with internal and external partners, as well as with members of the public.
Good planning and organisational skills, you'll be able to demonstrate an ability to manage and interpret data and information.
Awareness of Asset management.
Formal qualifications in civil engineering, asset management, data and information management are advantageous but not a requirement.

A full UK Driving licence is required.
