Crynodeb

The successful candidate will be expected to participate in the general on-call rota for Swansea, which is currently on a 1 in 18 basis, covering inpatient scanning at Morriston, and will also be part of a separate in-hours MSK duty rota at Morriston Hospital, which is currently shared among 6 MSK Radiologists. They will also be taking part in a hot-reporting rota covering urgent in-patient CT reporting. The successful applicant will be expected to undertake image-guided procedures, including soft tissue and bone biopsies, spinal nerve root injections, and spine biopsies. Access to ultrasound, fluoroscopy and CT Imaging guidance is available across all three sites. Experience in paediatric musculoskeletal radiology would be considered an advantage. The Health Board has committed to enhancing Radiology provision on weekends. Currently, a predictable on-call session, i.e. a resident session, is offered each weekend day between 11pm and 3 pm in exchange for time back in lieu. This may change depending on the needs of the department. Home Tele-Radiology is accessible via a laptop with VPN access, enabling MPR capabilities. Currently, there are 13 trainees on rotation in Swansea, which has facilitated a night shift of ST2-ST5 personnel covering on-call requests and reporting. Outsourcing is utilised for reporting CT body and MR spine when an ST2 is on-call overnight. A home working solution is provided where available. There is a separate on-call rota for neuroradiology (currently 1:5) that covers MRI and provides support to the general radiologists who handle CT brain cases out of hours (with registrars).
