Summary
This post is for a Clinical Team Leader within the Mental Health Crisis Assessment Service, a dynamic and integrated team that provides a 24/7 mental health crisis assessment service to patients walking in off the street as well as those referred from other stakeholders including local A&E departments, Single Point of Access and Home Treatment Teams. The successful candidate will be a key member of the multidisciplinary team, providing leadership and expertise in the assessment and management of individuals experiencing acute mental health crises.
Previous applicants need not apply.
The role requires a blended skill set, incorporating principles of psychiatric liaison nursing, social work, physical health care, and strong clinical leadership. The post holder will be responsible for the line management and supervision of junior staff, providing support and guidance in complex cases and facilitating their professional development. The service provides consultation and liaison for all patients over the age of 18.
The caseload is varied and complex, including presentations such as deliberate self-harm, mood disorders, psychosis, withdrawal, and acute behavioural disturbances. A key aspect of this role is to work collaboratively with acute hospital colleagues to enhance the patient experience and ensure safe and effective care pathways.
The post holder will be expected to work flexibly. The working hours will be a combination of rotational shift working (long day shifts and night shifts) and may also include the occasional 9am-5.00pm working. This working pattern ensures senior cover of the 24/7 nature of the team's work so that they can provide support and supervision to the service outside of normal working hours.
Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust (CNWL) is one of the largest trusts in the UK, caring for people with a wide range of physical and mental health needs. We have approximately 7,000 staff who provide healthcare to a third of London's population and across wider geographical areas, including Milton Keynes, Kent, Surrey and Hampshire. Our catchment area spans diverse communities, with over 100 first languages spoken. It contains areas of great affluence as well as areas of much deprivation. We are committed to providing services that meet the needs of the people who use them, and we actively encourage involvement from local people who can help make a difference. CNWL is recognised locally, nationally and internationally for providing high quality, innovative healthcare. We aim to employ only the best people, and our experts are frequently called upon to contribute to national health strategy and policy, and many models of our care have been adapted for use in other countries.
