Summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to Join our busy team in Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust as a Decontamination Technician helping to provide a comprehensive decontamination service.

The Decontamination Department is looking to recruit hard working, enthusiastic, flexible and motivated individual to join their team. The position of technician offers successful candidates the opportunity work within a well established and friendly team and train in all aspects of decontamination and sterile services. The positions are 2 fulltime equivalents, the post holders will be expected to work flexibly hours across 7 days/24hours, Weekend and bank holiday working will be required. ( 3shift patterns 0800-1600,1300-2100pm, 2000 - 0600 ). The

The post will involve Cleaning and decontamination of Surgical Instrumentation and Endoscopes associated equipment used for several specialties. Monitoring and validation of equipment used in the decontamination process. Will involve handling bodily fluids and requires the wearing of personal protective equipment.

The department operates 7 days working including weekends and you will be expected to participate in this Rota.

This role will also include on call services.



Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust is an integrated Trust and the only provider of NHS acute care in Walsall, serving a population of 284,300. A new Urgent and Emergency Care Centre, opened in March 2023, has significantly improved emergency care facilities and capacity, providing almost 5,000 square metres of additional clinical space.



Main duties of the job

The Decontamination Department is responsible for the provision of decontamination and sterilisation services to surgical theatres, endoscopy, out patient departments and wards/units of the Trust, together with GP's and other community users.

The post holder will be expected to work flexibly across 7 days across 24hours including Weekend and bank holiday.

The successful candidates will be required to work in all areas of the department.

The successful candidates will be responsible for Cleaning and decontamination of surgical instrumentations and Endoscopes associated equipment used for several specialties. Monitoring and validation of equipment used in the decontamination process. Will involve handling bodily fluids and requires the wearing of personal protective equipment. quality assurance, tracking and tracing, loan set processing, and stocking taking and ordering.
