Summary

Are you looking for a new opportunity for 2025?

Do you have a passion for engaging with children and young people?

Are you able to develop supportive relationships with young people within a groupwork setting, whilst introducing them to new experiences, working to increase their confidence, and ambition and to help them realise their own potential?

Our partnership with the Co-op is an exciting, innovative project where we are aiming to support young people, aged 10-25 years across the UK.

Our Barnardo's Co-op Partnership goals are:

Improve mental wellbeing
Improve access to basic needs (food)
Improve access to opportunities

We are recruiting a dynamic ‘As and When' Project Worker, who can support us to deliver our new service in Bridgewater For Our Future!

Sedgemoor For Our Future has been designed by young people, for young people.

The role is flexible with opportunities to support the team in running groupwork sessions designed to support and improve young people's mental wellbeing, access to food through cooking activities and support to run events that young people can access to develop skills and confidence.

Groupwork sessions will largely be running during evenings and during half terms. For Our Future (SFOF) is a service that has been co-designed by local young people and is part of Barnardo's partnership with the Co-op. The partnership has three key aims:

Improve young people's mental wellbeing
Improve access to basic needs (food)
Improve access to opportunities
SFOF runs 2 groups per week, one in Sedgemoor (Weds) and one in Highbridge (Tues) where young people can come together and:
Learn to cook
Eat together
Make new friends and connect
Talk about things that are important to them

We are looking for applicants who are:

Confident and creative in engaging and working alongside young people aged between 10-25 years.
Inclusive, kind and non-judgemental in their approach to engaging with young people.
Able to provide emotional and practical support to young people, in line with safeguarding policies and procedures.
Flexible to work evenings and weekends where required to meet the needs of the service.
For an informal chat about the role, please contact Jess Hanson, Children's Service Manager, jessica.hanson@barnardos.org.uk

When completing your application please refer to your skills knowledge and experience in relation to the Person Specification, Job Description and Additional Information document (if applicable). This should be done with an understanding of the context of the service described.

Please note due to the high volume of applications for some posts, this advert might close before the displayed closing date. We recommend that you apply for this role as soon as possible.
