An opportunity to make a difference
At Border to Coast our purpose is to make a difference and we’re looking for a keen Portfolio Risk Analyst to join our award-winning team.
As a customer-owned and customer-focused organisation, integrity is one of our values, as is our collaborative and sustainable approach. Our focus is to secure the pensions of over a million people who have provided valuable service to their communities and society. We’re the largest UK asset manager outside London or Edinburgh, and we provide innovative investments that deliver sustainable returns over the long term.
The role – what you’ll be doing
Join us as a Portfolio Risk Analyst and you’ll become part of a growing team responsible for maintaining and developing portfolio risk analytics and measures across all investment sub-funds and portfolios, in line with our investment processes, procedures, and relevant legal or regulatory requirements.
Your role is hugely important and will include:
Producing accurate and timely portfolio risk reports across multiple asset classes on a weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis, ensuring Portfolio Managers, the Investment Team, and Executive Committees have the insights they need.
Monitoring key risk metrics such as concentration, liquidity, stress testing, scenario analysis, and performance attribution, while driving improvements and collaborating with Research and Responsible Investment teams to provide quantitative input.
Extracting, analysing, and maintaining data for a range of purposes and stakeholders, ensuring accessibility, quality, and integrity across different sources and providers.
Your work will directly support our mission to deliver secure, sustainable investment for over a million pension scheme members.
About you - and the value you’ll bring to our team
We’d like you to be educated to degree level (or equivalent) and hold a relevant investment qualification such as CFA or FRM – or be willing to work towards one. Beyond that, we’re looking for someone who is analytical, collaborative, and passionate about investment risk.
You’ll bring:
Strong numerical and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and present clear, actionable insights.
Experience working with large datasets, including data manipulation and cleansing, and advanced Excel skills.
Familiarity with risk and portfolio management systems (e.g., Bloomberg, BlackRock Aladdin) and data visualisation tools such as Power BI.
A keen interest in investment markets, long-term investing, and a commitment to responsible and sustainable investment.
A proactive approach to learning and developing your technical knowledge and skills.
If you’re motivated by making a positive impact and thrive in a collaborative environment, we’d love to hear from you.
