Summary
The RSPB is looking for a part time administrator to join the Outer Hebrides’ Team. We are looking for someone who has experience of delivering effective and proactive administrative support to facilitate the delivery of our work programmes.This is a permanent, part-time position for 22.5 hours per week. You will support the Outer Hebrides team to deliver work across the region including our reserves on Lewis (Loch Stiapabhat, Loch na Muilne) and Uist (Balranald, Loch Druidibeg). You will also support the organisation in managing data and reporting on our Schedule 1 Bird Disturbance Licence.The Outer Hebrides is home to nationally important populations of many species ranging from waders on the machair through to White-tailed and Golden Eagles in the uplands and internationally important seabird populations on the off-shore islands. A particular focus of our work is on the Corncrake with about 50% of the UKs calling males in the Outer Hebrides supported by crofting practices. Working with local communities is essential to our work across the region.We are looking for someone who can : Provide comprehensive proactive administrative support to managers and the wider Outer Hebrides Team Support financial management and reporting processes, ensuring that financial information is accurate and well managedSupport the data management and reporting processes for the Schedule 1 Bird Disturbance Licence, ensuring attention to detail and legal complianceConfidently and professionally manage telephone, email and face to face enquires Build and maintain effective relationships both internally and externally, using diplomacy and tact Manage data sensitively and in line with GDPR compliance Provide project administration to small and developing projects Essential skills, knowledge and experience: Good working knowledge of Microsoft applications including Excel and SharePointKnowledge of document managementKnowledge of budget management terminology and phrasesOrganisational and time management skillsProactive approach to problem solvingAble to communicate effectively with a wide range of audiences via phone, email or face to faceAble to organise meetings and events and coordinate all aspects of the meeting or eventAble to make the best use of time particularly when under pressure from competing priorities, prioritising and delegating tasks effectively, during periods of both low and high demand. Desirable skills, knowledge and experience:Business Administrative qualification Experience of working in an office or customer care environment in an administrative roleThe role can be either home based or based on our office in Stornoway with occasional visits to reserves required.
