Summary

Assembly Operative - Defence and Military Systems – Permanent – Attractive – South-West

AnAssembly Operative is required to join an International Defence Systems company that designs, manufactures, and supports world leading Military Systems. The successful Assembly Operative will be part of a team and be carrying out assembly and test of safety critical components

This Assembly Operative opportunity is a full time permanent position and will be a Normal Day Shift over 4.5 days as Standard. Overtime for the Assembly Operative positions may be available.

The Assembly Operative will get full process specific training in line with Technical specification & practical experience. The Assembly Operative will be reporting to the lead. The Assembly Operative will be responsible for sub & final assembly tasks along with acceptance testing.

Assembly Operative will be responsible for the following:

• Cleaning of components prior to assembly process.
• Assembly of components in line with technical drawings & specification.
• Rework and fitting of components prior to final assembly.
• Precision measurement of components.
• Calculating of components using engineering mathematics.
• Identifying and picking parts from Kanban system.
• Maintaining full traceability throughout with paperwork and digital documentation.
• Booking sub-assemblies, systems, and components to stock.
• Operation, recording results & installation/removal of systems from test rigs.
• Collation of components, preservation & final packing of completed assemblies.
• Improving & maintaining a high level of 5S throughout the assembly environments.

The Assembly Operative should have the following Qualifications Skills or Experience:

• Proven experience in a precision assembly or a mechanical fitting environment.
• Strong team-working ethic, with the drive and flexibility to maintain pace of work.
• Strong multi-tasking abilities and to work on own initiative.
• Managing time effectively with willingness to learn new skills.
• Be a part of a multidisciplinary team with a high attention to detail.
• 5S mind set maintaining hand tools and working environment to a high standard.
• Familiar with IT basics, Microsoft office, and operating system.
• Comfortable with basic mathematical equations.
• The ability to obtain UK Security Clearance.
• Experience with transmission assembly, repair or overhaul would be desirable.
• Ideally candidates that are apprentice trained would be advantageous.

**Security Clearance (SC) may be required due to the nature of the Defence products involved**
