Summary

Principle Duties: To lead and professionally support a team of podiatrists within a defined geographical area. To lead in the evaluation, planning and implementation of service redesign and related policies and procedures, in liaison with Podiatry Team leader and Operational Service Lead. To lead in the operational and strategic development of the service, embracing developments in practice and evidence-based medicine. To lead podiatry team based continuous professional development (CPD) activities, participate in podiatry service wide CPD activities, and participate in the development of the podiatry service and co-owners as a team of managers. To lead on clinical audits, service pilots/projects and other research activities to support the development of evidence-based practice. To lead and implement a regular review of outcome measures across the service to ensure the service provided is effective. To act as a source of clinical expertise and be the clinical lead for diabetes and wound care within the Podiatry department, ensuring an effective, co-ordinated podiatry service is provided throughout the CSH area. To lead in the development of MDT and Hot Foot Clinics and be involved in the day to day running of podiatry wound care clinics both in the community and the Ashford & St Peters Hospital sites. Cascading information to the whole team, triaging referrals and requesting investigations To undertake training of podiatry students, help colleagues maintain and develop their clinical skills in wound care, and educate other health care professionals on the role of podiatric wound care. Provide highly specialist diagnostic assessment, treatment and advice, including surgical intervention for complex cases to maintain and improve patients mobility and independence and prevention of disability. Provide highly specialist diagnostic assessment, treatment and advice for high risk, ulcerated and the most complex cases to maintain and improve patients mobility and independence and prevention of disability. Be part of a wider multidisciplinary diabetes foot team at Ashford & St Peters Hospital providing podiatry wound care for both inpatient and outpatient services. Including Multi-disciplinary Diabetes Foot Clinics and Diabetes Hot Foot Clinics. To be involved in domiciliary wound care, liaising with TVNs and Community nursing teams where applicable. To be responsible for developing and maintaining patient pathways between acute and community care. Please refer to the Job Description attached for more detals.
