We are currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join a premier team of Military Pay Technician's at the 100th Comptroller Squadron, Royal Air Force (RAF) Mildenhall, United Kingdom.


What will be your primary role?

The primary purpose of this position is to perform duties as the senior military pay technician and primary point of contact for all military pay issues, transactions, and procedures for active, reserve, inactive reserve or retired armed forces personnel and their annuitants. You will be responsible for resolving the more difficult complex actions, developing and revising local procedures, and providing liaison functions between base organizations and the Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS).

As the senior technician, it will be your responsibility to monitor, review or initiate complex transactions where guidelines lack specificity to requirements, circumstances or problems, and/or frequently change.

You will serve as the primary point of contact with regards to military pay actions and coordinate on resolving military pay matters as well as manage and/or assist technicians in resolving military debt collection cases.

You will Accomplish the more difficult customer complaints and technical military pay issues and assist with training lower-level clerks/technicians on miscellaneous technical tasks and various complex actions in support of military pay actions.

What are the Key Skills required for this role?
1.Knowledge of a large body of rules, regulations, laws, and variety of procedures for one or more pay specializations; data system(s) used to support pay actions, and debt collection rules and regulations.
2.Knowledge of a variety of accounting and budget functional areas and their relationships to other functions to research or investigate problems or errors that require reconciling and reconstructing incomplete information.
3.Skill in performing arithmetic computations to compute pay.
4.Ability to interpret/apply regulations and procedures related to military pay, debt collection, and various complex actions.
5.Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, to present and/or advise on processes/actions.
6.Ability to operate a calculator and use a keyboard; a qualified typist is not required.

What are the conditions of employment for this role?
1.You will be required to handle and safeguard sensitive information in accordance with applicable US and UK laws, rules and regulations.
2.You may be required to travel by military and/or civilian aircraft and you may also be required to travel to the US or other country's, in the performance of official duties or to attend necessary training, this position may also be coded as mission essential.
3.You will be required to complete a 6-month probationary period
4.Overtime may be required, and you may be assigned other duties not included in this position description, but that are appropriate to the grade and skill set of the incumbent.
5.Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
6.The Local National Direct Hire (LNDH) Program does not participate in regular drug testing, however positions covered by this document may be subject to drug testing upon reasonable suspicion of substance abuse, and safety mishap or accident testing.
7.Your work hours will be 37.5 hours per week on a as Fixed schedule ( Mon-Fri) (0800-1630) where start & end times may be modified due to mission needs and in accordance with the organization's flexible working policies.
