Summary

Shared Application Services (SAS) is a fast-growing business area within the Home Office. We are consolidating and growing our capabilities in application development and support.  SAS uses the very latest technologies and will continue to evolve and adapt as new technologies come along.  

A Senior Infrastructure Engineer builds, administers, transitions, supports and maintains infrastructure services throughout the service lifecycle, according to the departmental policy and Home Office strategy. 

Where business needs allow some roles may be suitable for a combination of office and home-based working. Where this is the case, employees will be expected to spend a minimum of 60% of their working time in the office.

You will join DDAT’s cutting-edge Shared Applications Service Level 2 Support (SAS L2) Team, responsible for real-time monitoring of core technology, infrastructure, applications, and services within the Home Office. The team provides a consolidated operational view of the technical estate and ensures 24/7/365 support and recovery.

As part of SAS L2, you will help deliver an industry-leading approach to technical estate management, leveraging the latest technologies, techniques, and service management best practices. Your work will focus on innovative solutions for real-time monitoring, automation, and service industrialisation.

You will collaborate closely with colleagues and stakeholders, including the Service Desk, Incident Managers, Project Managers, Service Transition teams, external suppliers, the Information Technology Operations Centre (ITOC), and the Cyber Security Operations Centre (CSOC). Together, you will ensure services are effectively monitored, incidents are resolved through hands-on Level 2 intervention, and service restoration meets agreed service levels.

Additionally, you will contribute to broader management activities such as workforce planning, budgeting, technology roadmaps, and project delivery.

  • Backend: Java, Node.js, C#, Python, PHP, Scala, Power platform. 
  • Frontend: React, JavaScript, Typescript, Angular.  
  • Data: PostgreSQL, Microsoft SQL Server, Mongodb, Apache Cassandra.  
  • DevOps: AWS, Kubernetes, Azure, Jenkins, Docker, Ansible, Terraform.
  • AI: Azure ML Studio, Python, Github Copilot, OpenA, understanding of Lean, Agile and DevOps principles.  
  • AWS console, Zabbix, Prometheus, CloudWatch, Dynatrace, Kibana, Grafana, Confluence, Jira, Slack, Nagios, Gov Notify, VPN’s, ServiceNow.
