About the Role – Recycling Advisor
The Recycling Advisor will play a vital role in supporting residents and local businesses to recycle correctly, reduce contamination, and adopt positive waste-reduction habits.
This front-facing, community-based role involves carrying out property surveys, door-to-door engagement, public information sessions, and education activities to increase understanding and participation in north London’s recycling services.
Key Responsibilities
Resident & Community Engagement
Engage residents through door-to-door visits, community events, roadshows, and outreach activities.
Promote proper use of recycling and waste-reduction services, including food waste recycling, packaging recycling, and contamination prevention.
Provide personalised advice to address barriers and encourage sustained behaviour change.
Surveys, Monitoring & Insight Gathering
Conduct assessments of residential properties to understand recycling behaviours and identify service improvements.
Monitor participation levels and collect feedback to support targeted interventions.
Maintain accurate records of all visits, surveys, and engagement activity.
Campaign & Communications Support
Assist in distributing leaflets and behaviour-change materials to households and community groups.
Feed front-line insights and real resident experiences into wider communication campaigns, reports, and social media content.
Collaborate with operational, communications, education, and enforcement teams to resolve local recycling challenges.
Additional Duties
Represent professionally at outreach activities, meetings, and community events.
Undertake any other duties commensurate with the role as reasonably required.
