Summary

Support Worker - Sandwell


Hours: Shifts - AM 07:30 - 14:30 | PM 14:30 - 21:30 | NIGHTS 21:30 - 7:30 (Weekdays & Weekends)

Location: Birmingham, Sandwell

Start Date: ASAP


Your new company


Ongoing support workers are needed across the Sandwell Area to work in and across adult settings, providing ongoing support to the residents at the homes. The working hours are flexible to work around you and can include day and night shifts as well as weekdays and weekends.


Your new role


Your main role as a support worker will be ensuring the safety and comfort of service users. You will predominantly be working with elderly service users, so as well as carrying out tasks to ensure the smooth running of the home, you should also encourage service users to have confidence and independence and encourage engagement in activities. The role will include personal care, and hygiene upkeep dependant on each service users' needs.
You will be working with people from a variety of backgrounds, with varying levels of needs. With this, behaviour can be challenging, and you will need to be adaptable. Despite the challenges, this will be a rewarding role.


What you'll need to succeed

  • At least 6 months experience in the last 2 years in similar settings
  • Experience and willingness to get involved and be a proactive member of the team, taking part in activities, using own initiative etc
  • Experience of dealing with challenging behaviour, Personal Care, Manual Handling - experience with various stages of Dementia would be an advantage
  • A nurturing, patient, and proactive approach to supporting service users
  • Excellent communication both with service users and staff
  • Have in-date and in-person manual handling training and be able to provide the certificate
  • Strong level of spoken and written English
  • Have a minimum of NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care
  • Have a Childrens and Adults or either DBS on the update service or willingness to apply for one
