Summary

Purchasing Manager

Location: Blackwood
Contract: Permanent | Full-Time | Fully Office-Based
Salary: £35,000 - £40,000 per annum DOE

About the Role

Vibe Recruit are recruiting on behalf of our client in Crumlin for an experienced Purchasing Manager to take ownership of their procurement function within a fast-paced engineering environment.

This role is ideally suited to someone with a strong background in MRO or engineering spares procurement - buying and managing items such as bearings, pneumatics, consumables, components and critical plant spares. You will play a key role in ensuring the right parts are available at the right time, at the right cost, to keep production running smoothly.

Just as important as technical buying experience is personality. This is a relationship-driven role, requiring someone who can build trust with both suppliers and internal stakeholders, communicate clearly, and be a positive, professional presence within the business.

You will take a hands-on lead in driving cost control, Purchase Price Variance (PPV), and supplier performance, helping to create a resilient, reliable, and cost-effective supply chain.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the full purchasing cycle, including sourcing, negotiation, order placement, and supplier management.

  • Procure engineering spares, MRO items and production-critical components, ensuring continuity of supply.

  • Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships, acting as a key point of contact and trusted customer.

  • Monitor and drive PPV, cost savings, and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Measure and improve supplier performance against OTIF (On Time In Full) targets.

  • Identify and onboard new suppliers to improve cost, quality, and service.

  • Produce regular procurement and cost-performance reports for senior leadership.

  • Lead, mentor and develop a small team of three, encouraging accountability and collaboration.

Skills & Experience Required
  • Proven experience in engineering, MRO, or technical purchasing (e.g. bearings, pneumatics, spares, consumables).

  • Strong commercial awareness with experience of cost control and supplier negotiation.

  • Confident communicator with a personable, relationship-focused approach.

  • Able to work cross-functionally with engineering, maintenance, and operations teams.

  • Experience of managing or leading a small purchasing team.

  • Proactive, organised, and solutions-driven.
