Are you a proactive Purchase Ledger professional looking for a flexible, supportive finance role where you can really take ownership?

We’re working with a growing business that’s looking to welcome a Finance Assistant (Purchase Ledger) into their friendly and collaborative finance team. This is a part-time opportunity (approx. 28–32 hours per week) with flexibility around days worked. While normal full-time hours are 9:00–5:30 (with a 30-minute lunch), the team is happy to accommodate different working patterns — with the understanding that some flexibility is required around month end.

The Role:

Reporting to the Finance Manager, you’ll take responsibility for the end-to-end purchase ledger function, working closely with both internal teams and external suppliers. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys ownership, problem-solving, and being part of a supportive finance environment.

Key responsibilities include:

Processing high-volume supplier invoices, matching purchase orders to jobs on the MIS system
Managing daily export/import controls and flagging exceptions
Processing overhead invoices
Resolving invoice queries and disputes
Preparing weekly payment runs and early settlement runs, issuing remittance advices
Reconciling supplier statements
Processing staff expenses in Sage Intacct
Posting and reconciling company credit card transactions
Supporting month-end purchase ledger accrual analysis
Assisting with annual audits
General finance and administrative support as required

What We’re Looking For:

We’re seeking a great team fit — someone approachable, organised, and confident communicating with suppliers and colleagues at all levels.

You’ll ideally have:

Proven experience in a Purchase Ledger / Finance Assistant role
Confidence using Excel (intermediate level)
Experience with Sage Intacct or a similar accounting system
Exposure to an in-house management information system
A proactive, can-do attitude and strong organisational skills
Basic knowledge of double-entry bookkeeping (AAT desirable)
