The School
You will be working with a well-regarded SEN provision in Barking, supporting pupils with a wide range of needs, including:
• Autism (ASC)
• Developmental delay
• Sensory processing differences
• Fine and gross motor difficulties
• SEMH and communication needs
The school adopts a collaborative, multidisciplinary approach, working closely with SENCOs, teachers, and pastoral teams to deliver tailored, child-centred support.
The Role – Occupational Therapist (Band 5 or 6)
This is a full-time position, starting ASAP, with flexibility around in-person or remote delivery, depending on service needs and experience.
Your responsibilities will include:
• Conducting assessments and developing individualised intervention plans
• Supporting pupils with sensory regulation, motor skills, functional independence, and access to learning
• Delivering 1:1 and group interventions aligned with EHCP outcomes
• Working collaboratively with school staff to embed OT strategies into classroom practice
• Providing guidance and training to teachers and support staff
• Maintaining accurate records and contributing to EHCP reviews and multi-agency reports
Person Specification
Essential:
• Qualified Occupational Therapist
• HCPC registered
• Band 5 or Band 6 level
• Able to work independently within a school or remote setting
• Strong communication and collaborative working skills
• A genuine passion for supporting children and young people
Desirable:
• Experience working with children or within an SEN school
• Knowledge of sensory integration and paediatric OT approaches
