Summary
Neway International are seeking a Carpenter to join our client based with Vale of Glamorgan Council within their Building Maintenance Voids Team.
Location: Quarry Road, Wenvoe, Cardiff, Vale of Glamorgan, CF5 6AA
Hours: 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday
Start Date: 26 January 2026
Pay Rates:
• PAYE: £13.17 per hour
• Umbrella/Ltd: £17.03 per hour
Additional: Salary negotiable based on experience. Own vehicle required.
About the Client
Vale of Glamorgan Council’s Building Services team delivers essential maintenance, repairs and refurbishment work across the Council’s housing stock. The Voids Team ensures vacant properties are brought up to standard quickly and safely, supporting the Council’s commitment to providing high‑quality homes for residents.
The Role
The Carpenter will carry out a wide range of carpentry and general maintenance tasks within void properties. This is a hands‑on role requiring strong technical skills, reliability and the ability to work independently across multiple sites.
Key Responsibilities
Undertake all aspects of carpentry work within void and occupied properties.
Carry out repairs, installations, replacements and general maintenance tasks.
Ensure all work meets required safety, quality and compliance standards.
Work efficiently to meet turnaround times for void properties.
Liaise with supervisors, tenants and colleagues to support smooth service delivery.
Maintain tools, equipment and materials safely and appropriately.
Complete job records and documentation accurately and on time.
Travel between sites using own vehicle.
Candidate Requirements
Proven experience as a Carpenter within housing, maintenance or construction environments.
Strong skills in first and second fix carpentry.
Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.
Good communication and customer‑facing skills.
Full UK driving licence and access to own vehicle.
Commitment to safe working practices and high‑quality workmanship.
