Summary

The post holder will join the existing Infection, prevention and control team to support the Trust in meeting National standards for Infection Prevention and Control, the criteria within the Health and Social care Act Hygiene Code 2008 and CQC Fundamental Standards. This is an exciting development post for an experienced nurse. Duties and Responsibilities: The post holder will be responsible for assisting the Infection, Prevention and Control team in driving the national infection prevention and control agenda forward to improve standards of practice in across Bridgewater Community healthcare NHS Trust. Clinic visits to provide training and audit of practice and to identify risks via this process. organises and manages the link practitioner meetings. The post holder will utilise local and national guidelines for the Infection prevention and control agenda. The post holder will work within an existing work programme to monitor the standards of infection prevention and control across Bridgewater. Respond to issues raised with appropriate individuals and groups and implement any changes required to infection control practice. The post holder will assist with training events hosted by Bridgewater Community Healthcare NHS Trust to safeguard standards and practice in all aspects of Healthcare Associated Infection (HCAI) prevention. Assist with policy development to ensure safe practice. Ensure that staff are following the appropriate polices for the prevention of HCAI Will challenge poor practice within the Trust and raise concerns to Head of service to improve practice and patient safety. Following a period of development will work independently within the community and make autonomous decisions on management of HCAI. Will identify clinical risk and write up reports of recommendation to improve practice. Will work collaboratively with all services to promote high standards of Infection prevention and control practice, including outbreaks. Contribute to the existing Link forums within the Trust setting up and leading groups as appropriate Contribute to existing programmes of training to enhance elearning on IPC Support immunisation campaigns within the Trust by undertaking; o Targeted audit programmes o Training (targeted campaigns i.e. staff flu campaign) o Attending immunisation meetings within Bridgewater and Public Health England (as required/requested by the Lead Nurse IPC or IPC Senior Nurse/Staff Flu Lead)
