Summary
Position: HGV Class 2 Driver
We are an established family-owned company based in Colne, Lancashire. Over the last 40 years we have built a reputation for quality products and excellent customer service to the fencing industry, both commercial and domestic.
We require a friendly and hard-working individual to join our transport team on a permanent basis as a class 2 driver.
You will be responsible for the safe transport of timber and fencing deliveries locally and throughout the Northwest, whilst providing good customer service and being a positive representative for the company whilst on the road. On site, you will be loading vehicles for deliveries, and occasionally customers’ own vehicles, as well as assisting in the warehouse at times.
Requirements:
Experience in a similar position is desirable.
You must possess an HGV Class 2 licence with full CPC.
HIAB certificate preferred but full training given to the right applicant.
UK Digital Tachograph Card.
Must be physically fit, as some manual loading and unloading will be involved.
Forklift experience an advantage, but not essential.
Hours of work: 42.25 to 47.25 average per week
Monday to Friday – 7.30am or 8.30am to 5.00pm.
Saturdays – 8.30am to 1.00pm – on rota basis.
No overnight stays.
Rate of Pay: £31,000 to £34,500 per annum.
Holidays: 28 days per annum (including bank holidays).
Main Tasks
• Delivery driver for local and longer distance deliveries in either HGV wagon or
smaller 3.5 tonne vehicles.
• Load vehicles for deliveries on a daily basis.
• Main HIAB / Crane operator.
• Compliance with legal requirements re tachographs etc.
• Collecting payment from customers, receipting invoices and handling cash received.
• Carrying out and recording daily vehicle checks on wagon, and other vehicles.
• Ensuring vehicle repairs are reported and completed.
Sub Tasks
• Ensure deliveries loaded are checked for accuracy and loaded safely.
• Load up customers' vehicles.
• Unload goods inwards and sign delivery notes.
• Put goods away in warehouse and yard.
• Keep warehouse and external storage tidy and safe.
• Gas deliveries.
