Summary

Location: Oliver Close, West Thurrock, Essex, RM20 3ED
Hours: 37 hours per week

About the Client
Thurrock Council’s Waste Services team plays a vital role in maintaining clean, safe and well‑managed neighbourhoods. The Waste Collection service is responsible for delivering reliable, efficient and customer‑focused waste and recycling collections across the borough.
The Role
The Waste Collection Round Leader will support daily waste and recycling operations, leading by example and ensuring safe, efficient and high‑quality service delivery. This is a hands‑on role requiring physical work, teamwork and the ability to operate HGV vehicles confidently.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and support waste collection rounds across the borough.
Carry out a range of manual duties including loading, handling and moving waste.
Drive HGV vehicles safely and efficiently, including rear‑steer vehicles where required.
Work with minimal supervision while maintaining high service standards.
Ensure compliance with health and safety procedures at all times.
Contribute to a positive team environment and support colleagues as needed.
Represent the Council professionally when interacting with residents and the public.
Candidate Requirements
Minimum two years’ LGV/HGV driving experience.
Experience with rear‑steer vehicles is preferred.
Ability to work as part of a team and adapt to varied duties.
Strong work ethic, reliability and willingness to learn.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Physically able to undertake manual handling tasks.
