Our client is an award winning building design consultancy currently experiencing a period of growth. With exciting new projects on the horizon, they are looking for a Principal Bridge Engineer to join their newly created team on a permanent basis. With sites across the North, this person will be based in Durham on a hybrid basis.

The Role – Principal Bridge Engineer
The Principal Bridge Engineer will lead a team of dedicated professionals in the appraisal, assessment, and design of bridge structures, from feasibility through to construction stage delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead multiple projects, ensuring delivery from concept to detailed design.
Conduct bridge inspections and assessments.
Prepare analytical models, perform analyses, and detailed calculations.
Author technical reports, including AIPs, assessment and design reports, specifications, and contract documents.
Supervise and mentor junior engineers and CAD/BIM technicians.
Undertake H&S risk assessments and site visits as required.
About You
The ideal candidate will be a Chartered Engineer with a degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (or equivalent) and substantial post-qualification experience within an engineering design consultancy or Local Authority.
You will ideally have:
Proficient in the use of DMRB, MCHW, Eurocodes, and British Standards.
Skilled in analysis and design software packages such as STAAD, MIDAS, LUSAS, and Autodesk SBD.
Excellent computer literacy, particularly in Microsoft Word and Excel.
