Position:Permanent, 40 hours per week

Shift Pattern: Any 5 days out of 7

About the role

As our Painter and Decorator, you will carry outplanned and reactive painting and decorating to a high standard across internaland external areas. You’ll prepare surfaces, select appropriate materials, andcomplete work efficiently with minimal disruption to site operations. Safety isparamount: you’ll follow risk assessments, method statements, COSHH guidanceand permit‑to‑work processes, using the right PPE at all times. You will alsocoordinate with site stakeholders and service teams, report defects or hazardsyou observe, maintain tidy work areas, and submit accurate stock counts andcontractual documentation tied to maintenance works.

What you’ll do

  • Deliver painting and decorating across walls, ceilings, woodwork, floors and external surfaces, ensuring a high‑quality finish.
  • Prepare surfaces (cleaning, sanding, filling, priming) and repair minor defects prior to decoration.
  • Complete planned maintenance and respond to reactive requests to agreed priorities and timescales.
  • Work safely in live operational areas, including at height and around sensitive environments; comply with Health & Safety and permit‑to‑work requirements.
  • Use tools, equipment and materials correctly; store and maintain them safely; minimise waste.
  • Liaise with clients, site management and service teams to coordinate access and reduce disruption.
  • Identify and report defects, hazards or additional repair needs encountered during works.
  • Keep work areas clean and presentable; ensure spaces are safe after task completion.
  • Submit monthly stock counts and complete contractual documents to apportion costs for maintenance works.

What we’re looking for

  • Proven experience as a painter/decorator in commercial, industrial or facilities environments.
  • Strong attention to detail; pride in delivering consistent, high‑quality workmanship.
  • Self‑motivated, flexible and able to manage changing priorities and workload within agreed timescales.
  • Logical problem‑solver; calm under pressure and responsive to urgency.
  • Sound understanding of Health & Safety at Work regulations; clear, accurate reporting skills.
  • Desirable:NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent) in Painting & Decorating; basic IT skills for reporting and logging work.
