Crynodeb

Are you an experienced litigation lawyer looking for the next step in your career? The Crown Prosecution Service is recruiting specialist prosecutors to join our Serious Economic, Organised Crime International Directorate (SEOCID).

About the Crown Prosecution Service
At the Crown Prosecution Service, we are responsible for delivering justice through the independent and effective prosecution of crime. As the principal prosecuting authority across England and Wales, we employ over 7,000 people who think objectively, act professionally, show the upmost respect for others and continually strive for excellence.

SEOCID protects the public through the prosecution of serious economic, organised crime and organised child sexual abuse. Our team of specialist prosecutors work with criminal justice partners and other agencies to tackle the large scale, sophisticated criminal offending that threatens domestic and international security. We achieve this by ensuring we make high-quality legal decisions, work proactively with stakeholders and operate as a strong internal team that supports each other’s success.

About the role
As specialist prosecutor you work as part of a multi-skilled team to ensure the effective and successful prosecution of cases. You work with enforcement agencies including the Police, HMRC, National Crime Agency, Immigration Enforcement, and international prosecutors, to assess evidence, determine charges, and advise on complex, high-profile cases. You represent the Crown Prosecution Service, both internally and externally. You communicate with victims and witnesses; keeping them informed about the progress of their case and arrange support to help them to give their best evidence in court.

About you
We're looking for qualified barristers and solicitors with post-qualification experience of litigation in serious and complex crime. You must hold a valid Practising Certificate for England and Wales, and have experience of drafting high quality written analysis of complex legal or evidential issues. Extensive experience in criminal practice and dealing with complex disclosure issues and international enquiries is desirable, but not essential.

About our benefits
At the Crown Prosecution Service, we are proud to put our employees’ requirements front and centre. We want to ensure you can thrive at work and home, and offer a range of support to achieve a balance. This includes:

flexible and family-friendly working
competitive salary
Civil Service pension, with an average employer contribution of 28.9%
25 days leave, rising to 30 days after 5 years’ service, plus bank holidays
3 days paid volunteering leave
an extra privilege day for the King’s birthday
£350 a year individual learning budget
wellbeing support and counselling
