Summary
What youll be doing As a GP Receptionist, youll be the first point of contact for patients and play a key role in keeping the practice running smoothly. Your work will be varied, rewarding, and always important. Welcome patients and visitors in person, on the phone, and by email, making sure they feel supported. Book, change, or cancel appointments and help patients with referrals. Guide patients to the right healthcare professional or service. Arrange home visits when needed and follow simple triage steps. Keep the reception area clean and safe so patients feel comfortable. Spot and report problems to the Deputy Practice Manager. Help improve systems by checking processes and following health and safety rules. Protect patient privacy and treat everyone with dignity and respect. Join team meetings and share ideas to improve patient care. Handle concerns or complaints calmly and kindly. Act as a chaperone when patients need support during appointments. Keep accurate records of patient interactions. Register new patients and update records. Scan and process documents and use clinical IT systems. Use resources wisely and avoid unnecessary waste.
