Summary
TheClinical Apprenticeship Managerwill manage the clinical apprenticeship agenda ensuring that all clinical apprentices are recruited and line managed appropriately by the respective Divisions and receive the appropriate clinical placement in line with regulatory requirements. The Manager will also ensure that the clinical environment is appropriate for learning and Practice Assessors, Practice Supervisors and Clinical Educators are appropriately trained to support clinical apprentices.
The Manager will also support with preparation to role work across the service, providing support with career events, interview preparation and application support where appropriate.
1. Manage the clinical student apprenticeship recruitment processes in partnership with the Higher Education Institutions ensuring the recruitment of high calibre healthcare apprentice students in accordance with internal and external processes and governance requirements.
2. Manage the clinical apprenticeship placement capacity and allocation processes, ensuring the appropriate liaison with the Higher Education Institutions, Clinical Managers, Clinical Team Leaders, Practice Assessors, Practice Supervisors, Clinical Educators and Administrators.
3. Work with the Widening Participation and Training Lead to develop placement capacity across the organisation in line with the appropriate governance processes.
4. Facilitate the development of the Practice Assessors, Practice Supervisors and Clinical Educators ensuring that they have the knowledge, skill, ability and attitude to assess, train and develop clinical apprenticeship students.
5. Manage the Nursing and Midwifery Practice Assessor database and the Clinical Educator database, in conjunction with the Pre and Post Registration Nursing and AHP Managers, ensuring that all Practice Assessors and Clinical Educators are registered appropriately and are aware of their responsibilities to ensure compliance and assurance.
This role is based at MHH, but works in a hybrid manner with days in the office, days at home, and travel across BCHHC sites as necessary.

1. Work with the Widening Participation and Training Lead and the Administration Team to ensure that the relevant registers are maintained in line with the NMC and HCPC requirements and regulations.
7. Work with the Administration Team to ensure that the clinical student apprenticeships administration processes are developed and maintained to provide the relevant assurances as required by the Trust, Higher Education Institutions and regulatory bodies.
8. Manage the clinical educational audit process in conjunction with the Pre and Post Registration Nursing and AHP Managers, ensuring the appropriate compliance and that all clinical placement areas are appropriate for clinical learning.
9. Work in partnership with the Higher Education Institutions within the Fitness for Practice process and DBS panel process
10.In collaboration with relevant divisional staff, Practice Assessors and Clinical Educators, support clinical apprenticeship students on an individual or group basis to resolve difficulties with assessments and assist with individual action planning. Where necessary communicate difficult or contentious information regarding termination of placement or failure to achieve practice outcomes.
Act as a key contact for dealing with complaints/concerns relating to Clinical Apprentices.
2. Manage conflict between clinical student apprentices and practice staff, in collaboration with relevant divisional staff and Higher Education Institutions.
3. Advise, inform and guide key stakeholders in respect of curriculum delivery.
4. Support the recruitment of new staff by communicating recruitment opportunities to both student apprentices and Trusts.
5. Work collaboratively with Health Education England in order to advise on nursing/AHP apprenticeships and funding.
6. Work with Trust services and where necessary, the Independent Sector, to maximise the availability of practice placements.
7. Advise and communicate with the Trust and partner organisations/educational establishments on complex issues related to clinical student apprenticeships.
8. Develop policies and procedures to maintain and improve the quality of practice placements both within the Trust and in the independent sector.
9. Develop reports as requested by the Widening Participation and Training Lead in relation to designated areas of responsibilities, analysing data to ensure that meaningful information is provided.
10.Represent the department and/or organisation at relevant meetings ensuring appropriate preparation, participation and feedback.
