Summary

Our client, a leading primary school in Birmingham, West Midlands, is seeking a dedicated and experienced Full-time SEN Teaching Assistant to join their dynamic and supportive team. As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in providing individualised support and care to students with special educational needs, ensuring their academic, social, and emotional development.

- Provide one-to-one or small group support to students with special educational needs, ensuring their active participation in all learning activities.
- Assist students with personal care tasks, such as toileting, feeding, and mobility, while maintaining their dignity and independence.
- Implement and monitor individualised education plans (IEPs), behaviour support plans, and other targeted interventions to help students achieve their learning goals.
- Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to develop and deliver engaging and accessible lessons and activities that cater to the diverse needs of students.
- Facilitate and encourage positive social interactions and inclusive practices among students, fostering a sense of community and belonging.
- Maintain detailed records, monitor progress, and provide feedback on student performance to teachers and parents/carers.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to continuously enhance your knowledge and skills in supporting students with special educational needs.
- Ensure a safe and nurturing learning environment by adhering to the school's safeguarding policies and procedures.
- Relevant qualifications in education, special educational needs, or a related field (e.g. , NVQ Level 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning, CACHE Level 3 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning, or equivalent).
- Proven experience working as a SEN Teaching Assistant or in a similar role, with a demonstrated understanding of the unique needs and challenges faced by students with special educational needs.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents/carers, and colleagues.
- Strong problem-solving and adaptability skills, with the flexibility to adjust your approach to meet the diverse needs of individual students.
- Commitment to promoting inclusive practices and ensuring the wellbeing and progress of all students.
- Proficient in using technology and digital tools to support student learning and record-keeping.
- A valid UK driving licence and the ability to travel to the school site, as required.
