Summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced consultant to join the nationally and internationally recognised Travel and Tropical Medicine Service at the Hospital for Tropical Diseases, part of University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. This role offers the chance to work at the forefront of complex travel medicine within a highly specialist, academically led environment.
You will contribute to the care of travellers with complex medical needs and those undertaking humanitarian, educational or overseas deployments, working alongside a multidisciplinary team of expert clinicians, nurses and academics. The post combines expert clinical practice with opportunities for teaching, service innovation and collaboration with leading partners including University College London and the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine.

The post holder will provide expert consultant-level input to a specialist travel medicine service supporting travellers with complex health needs. You will deliver high-quality clinical care within a multidisciplinary environment, offering advanced advice and decision-making for individuals with underlying medical conditions and those undertaking overseas work in challenging settings.
A key aspect of the role is working collaboratively with specialist nurses, doctors, pharmacists and managers to ensure safe, evidence-based and patient-centred care. You will contribute to the clinical leadership of the service, supporting professional practice, maintaining high standards of governance, and helping to shape service development in response to emerging travel health needs.
The role includes a strong educational component. You will support and deliver teaching for healthcare professionals, contribute to training programmes, and share specialist expertise through internal and external educational activities. Strong communication skills and a commitment to developing others are essential.
