Summary

Salary: Grade S01/S02 - £34,086-£40,096 inclusive of London Weighting, plus a salary adjustment of £946.83-£1,113.78 per annum for working above full time equivalent hours.
Location: Arbour Vale School Satellite Centre, Derwent Drive, Slough, Berkshire, SL1 6HW.
Working Pattern: 37 hours per week, Monday–Thursday 7.30am–3.30pm & Friday 7.30am–3pm, 30mins lunchbreak each day.

Arbour Vale School is a large and inclusive special school in Slough, supporting pupils aged 2 to 19 with a wide range of educational needs. It is one of the largest special schools in the country, meeting the needs of children and young people with moderate learning difficulties, severe learning difficulties, profound and multiple learning needs, and autism.
The school is purpose built with specialist facilities including a dedicated nursery and post-16 base, soft-play area, hydrotherapy pool, multi-sensory room, a newly refurbished library, well-equipped IT suite, dedicated music room and large sports hall. Slough Borough Council has recognised the need for additional school places, and we are delighted to be working in partnership with the Council on an exciting new development at our satellite centre in Slough. This phased expansion will create 80 additional places over two years, increasing Arbour Vale School’s total capacity to 455 pupils across two sites. This is a fantastic opportunity to join our growing and inclusive school community, with roles available at the main school site and the satellite centre, as we continue to provide high-quality, personalised education for children and young people with a wide range of special educational needs.
We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Academy Facilities Manager for our new satellite centre to ensure the site is safe, well-maintained, welcoming, and fully operational. The role oversees daily operations, planned and reactive maintenance, health and safety compliance, and supports school activities and events, helping create a positive learning environment for students and staff.
Key Responsibilities:
• Maintain the site through planned and reactive maintenance, compliance records, utilities, defect monitoring, and inspection support.
• Ensure health, safety, and security via H&S procedures, risk assessments, fire safety, secure access, and key holding.
• Coordinate contractors, cleaning, and site staff to ensure safe, high-quality, compliant work.
• Deliver daily operations including repairs, systems maintenance, outdoor areas, porterage, waste, hygiene, and minibus duties where trained.
• Support whole-school operations through safeguarding, policy compliance, school improvement, positive conduct, sustainability, lettings, and ongoing professional development.
Key Requirements:
• Caretaking/DIY qualification or training.
• Clean, valid driving licence (new appointments only).
• GCSE Maths and English at grade C/4 or equivalent.
• Knowledge of site maintenance and building services (heating, plumbing, carpentry, electrical, security).
• Knowledge of H&S legislation, including COSHH.
• Knowledge of CCTV use and GDPR.
• Knowledge of safeguarding for children and vulnerable adults.
