Summary
Key Responsibilities Perform venepuncture and capillary blood sampling on patients of all ages in accordance with best practice guidelines Prepare patients for blood collection procedures, explaining processes clearly and providing reassurance Accurately label specimens and complete all necessary documentation and request forms Ensure safe handling, storage, and transportation of blood samples to laboratories Maintain accurate patient records using the practice's clinical system Adhere strictly to infection control and health and safety protocols Maintain and monitor phlebotomy equipment and stock levels Support other clinical staff with specimen collection as required Participate in practice meetings and training sessions Keep up to date with mandatory training (BLS, IPC) Follow safeguarding procedures and escalate concerns appropriately Maintain patient confidentiality at all times in accordance with GDPR and Caldicott principles
