About the Team
Carrswood Day Services is looking for caring, compassionate, positive and hard working people to join our team of support workers. We have full-time (37 hours) and part-time (30 hours, 25 hours) roles available.
The service is based in Twerton, Bath where we provide a building-based day service for adults with learning disabilities. The service delivers activities focused around key areas including - communication, health & wellbeing, independent living skills, social skills and support with sensory needs.
The service provision is currently Monday to Friday between 8am – 5pm.
About the Role
Full-time role – hours between 8am to 5pm as required, Monday to Friday. 30 minute unpaid break during each shift.
Part-time (30 hour) role – 5x 6 hour shift, hours between 8.30am and 3.30pm as required.
Part-time (25 hour) role – 5x 5 hour shift per week, hours between 9am and 3pm as required.
Our support workers are expected to lead activities, deliver the therapies people we support have been prescribed and support people to enjoy their day in the service. Each person we support is different and so we need for support workers to be positive and adaptable every day.
Key tasks for this role involve working with people who have learning disabilities, autism, sensory needs, health and mobility needs. Personal care (assisting people to use the toilet or change a continence pad is part of the role, as is manual handling. You will need to be IT literate and able to complete the records and mandatory training required for the role.
Candidates will be expected to have either some relevant experience in care and support or some clearly transferable skills. We will provide you with additional relevant training and support you to do your job. Once trained you will often work on your own but with guidance from the service manager and other staff members.
The role is primarily based at the day service, however, you may occasionally be asked to work in other areas, attend meetings or training outside of this location.
